About

Hello everyone

My name is Patricia Taylor, and I am a Specialist (Dyslexia) Teacher & Art Therapist with over 20 years’ experience of helping people to learn. My mission is to re- engage children with literacy difficulties or dyslexia, with the excitement of learning rather than the fear of failure.

My Journey

Over the last 20 years, I have been on a journey to understand how children learn. Seeing the emotional distress of children’s learning differences as a classroom teacher compelled me to find out how I could help.

My Training 

I decided to invest in the futures of those children and myself. I undertook specialist training to become a SENCO and Art Therapist. This gave me the tools to support the learning differences, mental health, and emotional wellbeing of individuals and small groups. As a life-long learner, I am keen to stay up-to-date with key developments in dyslexia, literacy and SpLD.  I am always undertaking Continuous Professional Development (CPD) to inform my practice.

  • Postgraduate Diploma Art Psychotherapy

As a Specialist (Dyslexia) Teacher I am committed to giving children not only the academic skills, but also the understanding and tools to navigate the emotional aspects of school when you learn differently.

My Experience
Throughout my experiences teaching in both state and independent schools, I began to recognise a growing need to support children’s emotional well-being alongside their academic learning. This inspired and motivated me to set up the therapeutic classroom.
